Scanning and Resolution Simplified

Generally, scan at 1.5 to 2 times the screen frequency (printer’s output). The following is a typical scan resolution for most publications:

  • 300 dpi for magazine and book printing
  • 170 dpi for newspapers
  • 72 dpi for web publishing

    For publishing it is always best to check with your printer for the screen frequency.
